THS Welcomes Daegu Metropolitan School District

Visiting teachers presented Dr. Kontogiannis with a beautiful plaque.  Click on image for full size view.

It was indeed an honor to welcome teachers from the Daegu Metropolitan School District, Dague Korea, last week.  Over 25 teachers from Daegu visited, of which four came to our high school. They observed many classes and visited our library media center.

Thursday night, Daegu school district hosted an event and dinner at the Palisadium, a fine Korean restaurant in Edgewater, where faculty from Daegu and Tenafly got to know each other better.  Gifts were presented, a delicious buffet was enjoyed, and there was plenty of dance and karaoke.  What an honor it is for Tenafly educators to have the opportunity to get to know these fine fellow educators from Korea!  We wish them a great trip.

New Audio Lines Run to Auditorium

30 April 04 -  Literally minutes prior to the start of THS music department's spring concert, a really unpleasant and dirty job was complete.  Three new noise free audio lines were pulled through a dusty drop ceiling from THS-TV's control room to the auditorium. Each line measures 500 feet.

With problems plaguing the existing audio lines, the new lines are a welcome addition, providing a noise free stereo feed with an extra line for use as a "talk back".  The old lines will be converted to permanent intercom use for communication between the director and the camera operators.

The first fruits of this hard labor resulted in a good quality stereo video recording of THS's outstanding spring concert.  We look forward to the use of these lines far into the future.

SPECIAL THANKS!!

Two very special students employed by the library media center over the summer helped to make many of our improvements happen.  David K. (04 and moving on to Montclair State University) and Mark F.(05) now a THS senior worked many hours. Their input played a very important role and is very much appreciated!!

STUDENTS MEET NUREMBERG TRIALS PROSECUTOR VIA VIDEOCONFERENCE

8 JUNE  2004 - In the  Presentation and Instructional Teleconferencing Theater (PITT) Mr. Morrison's AP History II as well as other students and teachers had the opportunity to meet  Henry T. King, Jr., professor of law at Case Western Reserve University and author of The Two Worlds of Albert Speer:  Reflections of a Nuremberg Prosecutor through the wonders of Videoconference technology. Seated in a videoconferencing room at Case Western, Prof. King answered a variety of thoughtful questions from students and faculty  about his first hand experiences as a Nuremberg prosecutor.  He explained that he is one of the last living and active prosecutors. He was 26 upon arriving in Nuremberg and interviewed many of the defendants to include Albert Speer.  Presently the taped record of this conference is being readied for rebroadcast on Channel 77 this coming week.  Please stay tuned for broadcast times.
